Soufiane Mahrach’s Animation Short Selected at Mecal Bcn
'True Heroes', the short film by former student Soufiane Mahrach, has been selected for the Mecal Pro 2024 (Barcelona International Short and Animation Film Festival).
Mecal, in collaboration with NonStop, organizes a competition for animation pieces featuring students from Catalan universities and animation schools. The finalist pieces will be screened, and the audience will vote for the winning short film.
'True Heroes' will be screened on Friday, June 28 at 9:15 p.m.
Soufiane Mahrach studied the Higher Education Course in Animation at EADTarragona until last year. He is part of the 2022-2023 cohort. His short film, which lasts 8 minutes, tells the story of Joana Cathisnky, a young superhero who turns out to be the most powerful in the world and also has a condition that makes her even more special: Joana is autistic. Throughout the film, she must learn to control her emotions to avoid harming others, with her brother Jorge helping her along the way.
Following the public screening of the works, there will be a networking event between students and animation professionals. The winner will receive a student accreditation to Annecy, one of the most prestigious animation festivals in the world, held in France in June.
Good luck, Soufiane!!
