What qualifications can I obtain?

The title you will receive after completing the higher level training cycles in plastic arts and design is Higher Technician in Plastic Arts and Design in the corresponding specialty. This title corresponds to the higher level of professional education in plastic arts and design and to the European reference CINE 5-b (International Standard Classification of Education).

What requirements do I need to access the studies?

The requirement to access the studies is having the title of Artistic Baccalaureate. You can also access with any baccalaureate title or equivalent qualification and take a specific entrance exam for plastic arts and design.

Do I need to take an entrance exam to get a place?

Yes, if you do not meet the necessary requirements to access the studies.

The entrance exam is organized into two parts: the common part, only for those who do not have the academic requirements, and the specific part, for all those who want to access a cycle.

The contents of the common part refer to the knowledge and abilities acquired in the baccalaureate. It consists of four exercises corresponding to the subjects of:

  • Catalan language
  • Spanish language
  • Foreign language (German, English, or French)
  • History or mathematics.

Regarding the specific part, the test consists of an exercise in which the student will develop a project proposal based on predefined conditions, choosing among three projects related to:

  • The field of communication and design that integrates the contents of the subjects of Audiovisual Culture and Design.
  • The field of artistic expression that integrates the contents of the subjects of Foundations of the Arts and Artistic Drawing.
  • The field of art and technology that integrates the contents of the subjects of Technical Drawing and Design.

What is the duration of the studies?

The higher level training cycles LOE offered by the school (Animation, Advertising Graphics, Interactive Graphics, Illustration, and Photography) last two academic years, with a total of 2,000 hours and 120 credits, including an integrated project during the second year and 240 hours of internships in external workplaces.

The higher level training cycles LOGSE offered by the school (Applied Arts to the Wall and Artistic Jewelry) last two academic years and a final project once these two years are completed. This final project is submitted during the second semester of the following year. Internships are also done in external workplaces. The duration of these internships depends on each cycle. The total duration of the cycle is 1,950 hours.

Can I take specialized courses without completing the full studies?

There are monographic courses with no access requirements that can be taken at the center in the afternoon.

What scholarships can I apply for?

There are specific scholarships from the Tarragona Provincial Council for students of the art and design schools it owns.

There is also a call for scholarships from the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Sports to help students of post-compulsory artistic education.

Which studies can I transfer? How can I do it?

There are a series of transfers that can be processed when enrolling at the center. Most transfers correspond to direct transfers established by regulations between training cycles of the same level and family. The center’s administration will inform you about the procedure to follow and the transfer tables.

There is also the option to request singular transfers based on the regulated study certificates that the student can provide. In this case, it is the Department of Education of the Generalitat of Catalonia or the Ministry of Education that resolves these types of transfers, which are based on equivalencies between different study levels, provided that the studies completed are equal to or higher than those the student wishes to pursue at the center and after enrolling in the contents to be transferred. These are also processed from the center’s administration.

Will I be able to do internships at companies?

To obtain the title of the training cycle, it is necessary to complete the FCT (Training in Work Centers). Each cycle has a teacher in charge of supervising internships in external workplaces, where students complete the internship phase without overlapping with their academic schedule. The internships of the LOE training cycles last 280 hours, while in the Artistic Jewelry cycle the internship load is 25 hours and in the Applied Arts to the Wall cycle it is 45 hours.

What career prospects do I have once I finish my studies?

Plastic arts and design studies have a rather notable employment rate once completed, as they allow for the development of many tasks related to creativity, expression, or creation. They also allow for employment as freelance professionals in various disciplines, with the creation of their own studios or workshops. Finally, many students decide to continue their education, whether in the field of higher education in plastic arts and design, other university degrees, or taking other training cycles that complement their professional profile.
