The Big Draw is a global festival dedicated to celebrating drawing as a tool for education, creative expression, and community interaction. This event, which originated in the UK in 2000, aims to encourage public participation in drawing and art-related activities, promote creativity, and enhance visual communication through various interactive activities.
Since 2017, the School of Art and Design of Tarragona (EADT) has organized Big Draw Tarragona, an annual event that transforms the city into a vast space for drawing. The goal of EADT is to bring drawing closer to the local community by integrating artistic activities into the daily life of Tarragona and offering citizens a unique opportunity to engage in the creative process.
During Big Draw Tarragona, the classrooms of the Escola d'Art i Disseny move out into the streets. The festival is organized throughout the city and includes a series of activities and workshops in public spaces, aiming to make drawing an accessible activity for everyone. The school’s students actively participate in creating and organizing these public events, where participants can experiment with various techniques in the field of drawing.
Big Draw Tarragona not only serves as an educational tool for the school’s students but also acts as a bridge between the center and the city, fostering an environment of participation and creative exchange. Since its launch, this initiative has become an annual tradition of the school, standing out as one of its most significant activities and contributing to enriching the city’s cultural life.
