The publications of the School of Art and Design are a testament to some of the best artistic contributions made by students from the different specialties offered at the center.

The publications edited by the School bear witness to the work carried out over time by the different departments, reflected in the artistic work generated in the School's classrooms, texts, and images as a permanent testimony of the School's contributions to the world of Visual Communication, Art, and Design.

Featuring 70 final projects, this third edition of #peramoralart captures the educational work of the School of Art and Design of the Diputació in Tarragona, showcasing the critical and artistic vision of our students from the 2022-2023 academic year.

This publication is much more than a collection of final projects; it is a testimony to the creative impulse that stems from a personal need, the effect of a deep commitment to life and art. It is #forlovethecause, a reflection of the inherent value of creativity that drives us to look beyond utility and discover the profound impact that art has on our society.

This catalog reminds us that art is a form of human connection and critical reflection on the world around us. Thus, #peramoralart becomes an invitation to continue exploring, creating, and sharing, not just for the love of beauty, but also for the love of the cause it represents.

In this second edition, we repeat the title: #peramoralart, an expression that dates back to Aristotle and has evolved over time to highlight artistic creation for the sake of art itself, without seeking material results. It embodies the spirit of this publication and the work carried out by the School of Art and Design.

In these pages, you will find the final projects of our students from the 2021-2022 academic year, showcasing their creative journey filled with experiences and learning. The projects reflect the passion, dedication, and talent of those who have chosen art and design as a form of expression, demonstrating the personal effort that this path entails.

#peramoralart speaks to us of everything we do without expecting anything in return, that which goes beyond what is established, with no reward other than the risk, courage, and discovery of new visions of reality. This publication is a testimony to the creative work born from a passion for art and design, inviting us to observe reality with an analytical, creative, and personal gaze, bringing it to paper, screen, or canvas.

It also represents the journey taken by students in the vocational training cycles at the School of Art and Design of the Diputació in Tarragona, where the journey itself is just as important as the final destination. Through these pages, we discover processes of exploration and personal growth, the effort to build a unique and bold language.

#peramoralart is our antidote to uncertainty, the tool that maintains our diverse and critical perspective. It is the attitude of the teaching staff who, together with the students, work to go beyond the established curricula, creating spaces for complicity, revelations, and collective creativity.

This publication was presented in June 2008 and includes a collection of graphic works by students, alumni, and teachers about the need for design in our daily lives.

In the presentation, we can read:
"What is the most important thing in life? What part of our lives is occupied by design? How does it affect us? What does it mean to us emotionally? Is design passion, or rather, does it still bring us to a state of passion?"

In Illustration Key

This catalog is a sample of the work carried out in the Illustration Cycle since it began at the School of Art and Design in Tarragona in the 2001-02 academic year and includes the first five cohorts of students.

Its approach highlighted that in a world more concerned with immediacy, security, speed, and irresponsible consumption, the practice of illustration becomes, above all, an intelligent act of creation, transmission of ideas, struggle, opinion, and judgment. It is an act that cannot leave anyone indifferent, because it is not merely a decorative resource that accompanies the word; on the contrary, it emphasizes it and therefore emits a judgment.

Optic Nerve is a publication of the photography department, which has produced 4 editions.

The second edition corresponds to the title "Presentations" and includes projects that present the use of photography from different perspectives and in varied contexts, as a tool for research and the construction of individual and collective identities. The publication is segmented into the sections "We," "Them," and "I," addressing the vision of identity.

"We" refers to identity related to the group to which one belongs and with which one identifies. The roots supported as a group. The notion of the individual as a generational, cultural, or class entity, etc.

"Them" illustrates the gaze towards the other and depicts the position of the authors in front of the unknown and the strange. The distance allows objectivity while also prompting the need for knowledge.

Finally, "I" shows us the subjective gaze of oneself, the loop of personal image construction.

This publication came to light in 2010, when ten years had passed since the last educational reform implemented in this cycle of painting studies.

We can find, on the one hand, texts contributed by two great examples of what painting might mean in our territory today: Joaquim Chancho and Perejaume, two texts that perfectly complement each other, as their ways of understanding art also do.

We can observe definitions of the word painting that have been contributed by people from various backgrounds within the art world (critics, students, teachers, artists, etc.). These definitions are like small windows that then allow us to open the door to the studio so that we can contemplate some of the works and processes carried out during these ten years.

The last publication of Optic Nerve was edited in 2012.

The edition was titled "Second Nature" and was a showcase of the work done in recent years in the Photography Department of the School, in relation to the photographic documentation of the Camp de Tarragona.

The publication was created with the intention of showcasing the most interesting and high-quality work done by the students of the Artistic Photography training cycle, which represented the documentation of the territory carried out by the School.
