Illustration
In this course, students will design and carry out illustration projects using various techniques and across different fields: editorial, industrial product, advertising, conceptual and digital art, among others.

Turning the passion for drawing into a future profession full of opportunities

The studies enable students to create original illustrations for various fields: science, technical, architecture, interior design, fashion, advertising, products, editorial, and press / Mastering traditional and computer techniques, and applying their work to interactive, printed, and foldable media.

Those who complete the training cycle obtain a title of senior technician, which allows them to access the job market to carry out tasks such as the following:

Design, organization, and management of illustration projects / Creation and realization of original illustrations for different fields: science, technical, architecture, interior design, fashion, advertising, graphic design, editorial, and press / Creation and realization of interactive and three-dimensional pop-up book projects / Analysis of proposals and the realization of documentary and graphic research for illustration projects in different fields / Collaboration in the organization and supervision of the editorial production of illustration projects.

Title: Senior Technician in Plastic Arts and Design in Illustration.

Level: Higher degree in professional training in Plastic Arts and Design.

Level 1 of the Spanish Qualifications Framework for Higher Education (MECES)

Total duration of the cycle: Two thousand hours distributed over two academic years.

ECTS Credits: One hundred and twenty

Professional artistic family: Graphic and audiovisual communication.

European reference: ISCED-5b (International Standard Classification of Education).

The general competencies describe the combination of skills, motivations, and traits required to perform effectively in a wide range of jobs within the specialty.

  • Create original illustration work with formal and functional quality from a personal project or a specific professional assignment.
  • Plan the execution of the project by defining the most appropriate expressive, formal, functional, aesthetic, and technical resources.
  • Develop the different phases of the project and the corresponding quality controls to obtain a final product that meets the professional graphic, communicative, and expressive objectives.

The professional competencies are linked to the workplace, including all the skills and abilities that help them successfully perform their work:

  • Identifies the artistic, formal, functional, and technical aspects of an illustration project, as well as, where appropriate, the most suitable persuasive, informative, and identifying elements for the assignment's specifications.
  • Plans and develops illustration projects according to previously determined narrative and technical specifications.
  • Selects, analyzes, and archives the documentation and reference graphic material for the realization of the illustration project.
  • Selects and skillfully uses the most appropriate artistic techniques or styles to provide a graphic solution to the communicative and expressive objectives of the project.
  • Executes the illustration project according to the particularities of the graphic medium in which it is incorporated.
  • Establishes the quality controls corresponding to each phase of the project process.
  • Produces the originals considering the particularities of subsequent reproduction processes and follows the corresponding quality control.
  • Efficiently coordinates the work derived from or generated by these responsibilities.
  • Follows the specific regulations that govern the professional activity.
