The Game Jam WTM is a joint initiative of the School of Art and Design of Tarragona and the Google Developer Group Tarragona, aimed at fostering creativity and collaboration in video game development. This activity is part of the Women Techmakers program, a global initiative by Google designed to enhance the visibility and participation of women in the field of technology.
The Game Jam WTM has two main objectives. The first is to bring together professionals from the industry with students of computer science, game design, animation, illustration, and other creative disciplines in a common space, allowing them to showcase their talent by creating a video game or application within a limited timeframe. The second is to give visibility to women working in the creation and development of video games and to promote these professional careers among young people.
The competition takes place over a weekend, lasting up to 44 hours. Participants, organized into teams, may specialize in various disciplines such as programming, design, illustration, animation, and music. The event is open to everyone, with the goal of creating networking opportunities, supporting the development of new projects in the video game sector, and bridging the gap between the worlds of programming and art.
Participation in the Game Jam is free and open to everyone, both women and men, and to individuals from both the technology and artistic sectors. In addition to registering as participants, one can also register as a visitor. Visitors can attend the talks, view the teams' work, and watch the final project presentations on Sunday afternoon. If you register as a visitor and decide to participate, you can join an existing team or form a new one. Additionally, mentors will be available to advise and guide teams throughout the project development.
The Game Jam WTM aims to be a platform where all interested parties can enjoy an immersive experience in video game creation, integrate into multidisciplinary teams, and benefit from the expertise of experienced mentors.
