In December, students from the Illustration and Painting (Applied Arts to the Wall) vocational courses at EADTarragona teamed up with artist and illustrator Ignasi Blanch to create a large-scale mural at the Port of Tarragona.

The mural, measuring 30 meters in length and 2.4 meters in width, is located in Warehouse 2 of the Moll de Costa and serves as the backdrop for Blanch’s latest exhibition, Big Parade. The Winter Procession.

The exhibition is divided into three sections: a collection of original illustrations by Ignasi Blanch, the large-format mural, and a selection of paintings from his time in Berlin during the 1980s, when he was invited to illustrate part of the Berlin Wall.

The mural was created by Blanch alongside students from the Escola de la Dona, where he teaches, as well as students from EADTarragona. It features a procession of Christmas characters and imaginary beings from Blanch’s creative universe, inspired by Alice in Wonderland, Federico Fellini’s films, dancer Pina Bausch, the nights in Berlin, and the processions and streets of his hometown, Roquetes.

The students who participated from EADTarragona include Georgina Palazón from the Higher Vocational Course in Illustration, Emily Hincapié, Gabriela Alicia Grohovaz, Queralt Osorio, and Florencia Ordera from the Higher Vocational Course in Applied Arts to the Wall (Painting), and Sheila Requena from the Higher Vocational Course in Photography, who captured the photographic documentation of the project.

The mural and exhibition will be open to the public until February 16.
