The School of Art and Culture of the Diputació inaugurates two exhibitions of ceramic objects by the artist Gemma Molero.
Next Thursday, September 5, in Tortosa, at the exhibition hall of the center at 7:00 p.m., 'Constellations and Satellites' will be inaugurated, and on Friday, September 6, at the Institut d'Estudis Vallencs in Valls, 'Characters and Meninas' at 7:00 p.m., two exhibitions that will be open until September 22.
With this double exhibition, the School of Art and Culture of the Diputació gives voice to the creative universe of Gemma Molero, a ceramist and teacher at the Diputació's artistic education centers since 2009.
The infinite possibilities of clay, the mystery of the firings, or the power that a simple object like a vase radiates are some of the traits that most attract the artist when she shapes the clay, turning it into a form of expression full of content.
In the exhibition that can be visited in Tortosa, 'Constellations and Satellites,' Molero starts with spheres and semi-spheres of different sizes to simulate a primitive and simple cosmos, with unique characteristics in each planet; with iron structures, the shapes of imaginary constellations end up building a symbolic universe. In 'Characters and Meninas,' clay takes center stage, often combined with supports or accessories such as stone or iron. The characters are conical vessels related to the human figure, while the Meninas are the artist's personal reinterpretation of Velázquez's Meninas.
The artist, ceramist, and teacher Gemma Molero, born in 1959 in Don Benito (Badajoz) and an adopted resident of Reus, has been linked to the art world since she was very young.
Since 2009, she has been a tenured professor at the Diputació of Tarragona, has taught classes at the School of Art and Design in Tarragona, at the Art Workshop in Valls, and currently is part of the teaching staff at the School of Art and Culture. She is also a student of the CFGS of Jewelry at EADTarragona. She has participated in various group exhibitions across the country and in Germany, and she has also exhibited individually in galleries in Valls, El Vendrell, Reus, Tarragona, and Alcover. She has received awards in different competitions, notably winning 1st prize in the 'Homenatge a Dalí,' organized by the Generalitat of Catalonia.
Her works have been finalists in different ceramic competitions and in the Contemporary Gastronomic Art Biennial of Vila de Cambrils.
