Cabinet Julio Antonio’s personal objects and letters
In 1968, the Museum of Modern Art of Tarragona received the legacy of much of the work of the sculptor Julio Antonio (Móra d’Ebre, 1889 – Madrid, 1919), which also included numerous photographs, correspondence to his family and friends, and personal objects, such as his work overalls and the tools he used in the studio.
Julio Antonio made a mould of his own hands in order to use them as the hands of the wounded Hero in the Monument als Herois de 1811 in order to make them as realistic as possible.

On 24 December 1909, Tarragona City Council agreed to produce a monument in memory of those who defended the city against the siege by French troops led by General Suchet in 1811 during the War of Independence or the French War.

Unlike the other sculptures in the series Bustos de la raza, where Julio Antonio did not wish to represent any specific individual, with María la gitana, querida que fue del Pernales he breaks with this trend to represent a very specific person.
Miner from Almadén
Almadén is a town known for its mines, which are its lifeblood and of which the miner is a symbol. Julio Antonio wanted to capture the essence of the location and its inhabitants.
Busts of the Race
Busts of the Race form part of a sculptural series with which Julio Antonio aims to sculpt representatives of the people, anonymous men and women, considered fundamental to the race, adopting an approach that was commonplace among the majority of representatives of the Spanish literary movement known as the Generation of 98, in particular his friends, the writers Ramón Gómez de la Serna and Eugenio Noel.
