Col·lapsar millor, de Quim Packard
07/02/2025 - 30/03/2025
The exhibition “Col·lapsar millor”, by Quim Packard, presented at the Tarragona Modern Art Museum (MAMT), explores the concept of environmental collapse and the role of cultural institutions in the event of this scenario. Through a series of drawings and installations, Packard reflects upon how the boundaries of museums dissolve into their surroundings, creating a symbolic connection between the interior and the exterior. The work uses the analogy of the museum as a liquid element, susceptible to being contaminated and to contaminating, to question the highly rigid and conservative model of the artistic institution. The exhibition also revisits the artist’s previous works, and establishes a dialogue with his most recent concerns.
The exhibition includes the pieces Soc l’ombra i els seus insectes magnetic (I am the shadow and its magnetic insects), a project by Ariadna Guiteras in collaboration with Diversorium, which takes the form of pouffes designed to create a friendlier space that is more welcoming to the body, in order to promote a more intimate and accessible exhibition experience. In addition, the project is complemented by a series of conversations about artistic mediation and education, with the participation of Jordi Ferreiro, Ángela Palacios and Aida Sánchez de Serdio.
Through this programming, the exhibition broadens its reflections to address issues such as institutional transformation, critical pedagogy and the relationship between culture and collapse. “Col·lapsar millor” aims to open the doors to institutional futures that are more responsible, critical and integrated within their surroundings, and to reinterpret collapse not as an end, but as an opportunity to rethink culture in times of crisis.
