BADt
THE EVOLUTION OF THE ART BIENNAL
In 1944, the Diputació de Tarragona instituted prizes for the promotion of artistic creation: the Tapiró Prize for painting and the Julio Antonio Prize for sculpture, which over time have become the Tarragona Diputació Art Biennial. The prize, with more than seventy years of history, has been a biannual state-wide call founded, from the beginning, under the competition formula and staged in two very specific disciplines such as painting and sculpture.
THE BADt TODAY
The complexity in which the contemporary artistic project has been immersed and the adaptation of all its logistics in the reformulation of the work requires more and more commitment on the part of the artists and more involvement on the part of the institutions in the processes of production; Along these lines, the Diputació de Tarragona presented in 2020 a new call model for the Art Biennial of the Diputació de Tarragona (BADt) justified with a new model of the bases. Under a single award, work of any style that is framed within the current concept of visual arts will be accepted, regardless of the discipline and without the need to attend to any prior classification, with the aim of promoting interest of the artists and obtain the complicity of those most critical and professional views of the contemporary artistic scene.
With the call for the BADt, the Diputació de Tarragona is betting on the figure of the artist, and with the desire to enthuse the maximum number of participants, from any artistic discipline.
