Strategy, Objectives, and Impact

Strategy

Our approach involves embracing the various opportunities offered by Erasmus+ to facilitate learning mobility for both students and staff. By participating in key actions such as mobility projects, cooperation partnerships, and support for policy development, we are committed to cultivating a dynamic and inclusive international learning environment.

We are particularly interested in:

  • Facilitating student mobility for studies and internships.
  • Offering our academic staff opportunities for professional development and knowledge exchange through Erasmus+ staff mobility for teaching and training.
  • Contributing to innovation through partnerships for innovation and alliances.

Objectives

Objective 1: Successfully establish and implement our institution's participation in Erasmus+ mobility projects for studies and internships, with the specific goal of gradually incorporating 5% of our students into these programmes over the coming years.

Objective 2: Enhance the professional development of our staff through Erasmus+ staff mobility for teaching and training, with the aim of having 5% of staff members engage in mobility activities annually.

Objective 3: Actively participate in Alliances for Innovation to foster innovative practices within our institution.

Impact

Our active participation in Erasmus+ will enable us to:

  • Enrich the educational experience of our students and staff through international mobility.
  • Strengthen our institutional profile on the international stage.
  • Modernize our curriculum and teaching methods by exposure to diverse perspectives.

Indicators

Objective 1: Increase student mobility.

  • Achieve a gradual annual increase, reaching a minimum of 5% of the total student body (at least 11 students) participating in Erasmus+ mobility for studies and internships by the end of the 5-year period. (Timeline: academic years 2023/24 to 2027/28).

Objective 2: Professional development of staff.

  • Ensure that 5% of staff members participate in Erasmus+ staff mobility for teaching and training annually (2 teachers/year). (Starting from the 2023/24 academic year).

Objective 3: Foster innovative practices.

  • Indicator: Implement 3 innovative projects through participation in Partnerships for Innovation and Alliances for Innovation. (Timeline: 2023 to 2026).

Participation in Erasmus+

The Erasmus+ project that the School of Art and Design of the Diputación de Tarragona aims to develop is based on five main actions, of which the first four correspond to the key action KA-01 Mobility for learning purposes, and the fifth corresponds to the key action KA-02 Cooperation among organizations and institutions.

Objective 1: Increase student mobility

1st Action: Student mobility for studies between Programme countries: This first action is aimed at Higher Vocational Education and Training (VET) students, who will be able to take the corresponding ETCS credits for one semester at an institution participating in the programme.

2nd Action: Student mobility for internships between Programme countries: This second action is aimed at Higher VET students who have completed their studies at the Educational Centre. In this action, they would undergo training in work centres at institutions participating in the programme for a period of 2 months.

Objective 2: Professional development of staff

3rd Action: Staff mobility for training between Programme countries: The third action targets the teaching staff of our Centre, with the objective of exchanging experiences related to organization, structure, curriculum, content, and competencies of both our respective centres and teaching practices.

4th Action: Staff mobility for teaching between Programme countries: The fourth action aims to facilitate the stay of our teaching staff in other institutions within Programme countries, to offer our pedagogical skills in the field of art and design, contributing our experience to other higher education institutions.

Objective 3: Foster innovative practices

5th Action: Implement innovative and cooperation projects through participation in Partnerships for Innovation and Alliances for Innovation: Finally, this action related to the key action KA2: Cooperation among organizations and institutions, focuses on international cooperation projects for innovation, the exchange of good practices, and the development of new educational methodologies.

Application of ECTS Credits

The School of Art and Design of the Diputación de Tarragona has based its credit system on the framework established by the Bologna Plan for studies included in the international mobility programme. Below, we explain how this credit system is established for each action.

1st Action: Student mobility for studies between Programme countries.

Studies:

  • Higher VET Cycle in Interactive Graphics.
  • Higher VET Cycle in Advertising Graphics.
  • Higher VET Cycle in Animation.
  • Higher VET Cycle in Illustration.
  • Higher VET Cycle in Photography.
  • Higher VET Cycle in Applied Arts to the Wall.
  • Higher VET Cycle in Artistic Jewelry.

30 credits will be obtained as a workload for one semester.

20 credits will be obtained as a workload for one trimester.

The workload for obtaining these credits will be based on attending classes, completing projects, and taking exams.

As for the credit allocation methodology, the following will be considered:

  • The semester where the study period abroad best fits into the curriculum.
  • Ensuring the full recognition of courses taken abroad as established in the Learning Agreement through the Recognition Sheet.

The period of stay in other institutions of the European Union under the ECHE Charter will be 6 months.

2nd Action: Student mobility for internships between Programme countries.

Studies:

  • Higher VET Cycle in Interactive Graphics.
  • Higher VET Cycle in Advertising Graphics.
  • Higher VET Cycle in Animation.
  • Higher VET Cycle in Illustration.
  • Higher VET Cycle in Photography.
  • Higher VET Cycle in Applied Arts to the Wall.
  • Higher VET Cycle in Artistic Jewelry.

The curriculum of the Higher VET Cycles covers 2 academic years, with a total of 2000 hours, including 284 hours of training in work centres, as well as the development of an integrated project with a total of 100 hours.

The period of stay in other institutions of the European Union under the ECHE Charter will be two months to complete the training period in work centres and will involve the recognition of 12 credits.

3rd and 4th Action: Staff mobility.

Duration of 5 days, excluding travel days.

For training mobility, the training activity must correspond to a specialization course, workshop, seminar, conference, etc.

For teaching mobility, the teaching staff will design the interventions to be developed during the stay, in line with the educational programme of the host institution.

Selection Processes

The School of Art and Design of the Diputación de Tarragona will ensure that the selection processes for Erasmus+ activities are fair, transparent, and inclusive. To avoid any form of discrimination, the institution will apply equal opportunity policies and constantly review admission procedures to eliminate potential biases. Clear information about application processes and selection criteria will be provided, accessible through its website and other communication channels.
